As a distance learner, I liked not having to be on the physical campus in order to obtain my degree. As college student, we have to work and get our education and unfortunately for some, that means having to choose one over the other. What I didn't like for some of my classes was that some teachers felt lonely not being in the environmental classroom and I don't understand why they would feel lonely. It caused them to appear sensitive when talking to them since most of them weren't social outside their lives as professors. When I become a teacher, I would like to not have the classes on zoom and instead just the assignments and have the students call me over the phone whenever they need help. It allows for a more structured learning environment when the goal is anyways to turn in assignments. It cuts out the need to lecture.
Open educational resources are open resources that are available free on the web for the use of learning. These resources range from text to video files that allow people to learn tasks or skills. The purpose of these resources is to allow free education so that many people can have access to this information and that it isn't withheld from anyone. In the blog post provided below, the author provides a wide variety of college-level science material that allows anyone to study in their own free time. This blog also explains what OER can also be used for in the future. https://davecormier.com/edblog/2009/02/22/oers-shining-light-new-textbook-model-or-harbinger-of-a-new-imperialism/
I learned how to use PowerPoint to create games for classrooms. I didn't know that PowerPoint could be used for other things than research. I also focused more on learning how to create games in PowerPoint because I know that will be useful to bring the classroom together and reward everyone for being energetic. i have nothing but positives for the PowerPoint assignment since I haven't done a PowerPoint in almost 2 years and I didn't even remember how to use PowerPoint on my computer. It was very fun and in the future, I plan on using it for the benefit of relaxation in the classroom.
